Wear a medical alert bracelet or carry an ID card with you at all times in case of a medical emergency. Do not receive a "live" vaccine while taking Medrol. Do not stop taking Medrol suddenly as you may have withdrawal symptoms. Your steroid medication needs may change, talk to your doctor about any situations that may cause a change in your medication.

What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Medrol /Methylprednisolone ?

Because Medrol may weaken your immune system, avoid those who are sick or have infections. It is not known if Medrol causes harm to an unborn child. Medrol is able to pass into the breast milk and may harm a nursing baby. Talk with your doctor if you plan on becoming pregnant, are pregnant, or have recently given birth.

When should Medrol /Methylprednisolone not be taken?

Serious side effects may include: allergic reaction; problems with your vision; swelling, rapid weight gain, feeling short of breath; bloody or tarry stools, coughing up blood; pancreatitis; low potassium; or dangerously high blood pressure.

Less serious side effects may include: sleep problems, mood changes; acne, dry skin, thinning skin, bruising or discoloration; slow wound healing; increased sweating; headache, dizziness, spinning sensation; nausea, stomach pain, bloating: or changes in the shape or location of body fat.
