Lamisil is used to treat fungal infections in the fingernails and toenails. Lamisil is an antifungal medicine that works by killing sensitive fungi.

How should Lamisil /Terbinafine be stored?

How should I take Lamisil/Terbinafine ?

Use Lamisil exactly as directed by your doctor. Verify your dosing instructions by checking the label on the medicine. Lamisil is to be taken by mouth with or without food. Lamisil is usually taken for 6-12 weeks depending on the state of the condition. Full benefits may not be seen for several months after stopping treatment; this includes the time period necessary for the growth of healthy nail. For your infection to clear up completely, take Lamisil for the full course of treatment. If you miss a dose of Lamisil, take is as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing regime. Do not take more than one dose of Lamisil at a time.

When should Lamisil /Terbinafine not be taken?

Do not use Lamisil if you are allergic to any ingredient in Lamisil or if you have a history of severe kidney problems or liver problems. Do not use Lamisil if you are pregnant. If you think you are pregnant, contact your doctor right away. Lamisil is found in breast milk. Do not breast-feed while taking Lamisil.

What precautions should I follow when taking Lamisil /Terbinafine ?

Before taking Lamisil, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are pregnant, planning on becoming pregnant, or breast-feeding a baby. Lamisil can harm an unborn baby or pass into breast milk. Some medicines interact with Lamisil. Tell your doctor if you are taking any prescription or non prescription medicine, herbal medicines, or dietary supplements. IF you have allergies to medicines or foods it is important to share these allergies with your doctor. If you have a history of kidney problems, lupus, psoriasis, or alcohol abuse, it is important to tell your doctor. Tell your doctor if you have a weakened immune system.

What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Lamisil /Terbinafine ?

Cimetidine can increase the risk of Lamisil's side effects. Tell your doctor if you are taking Cimetidine before taking Lamisil. Rifampin can decrease the effectiveness of Lamisil. Tell your doctor if you are using Rifampin. Avoid large amounts of food or drink that contain caffeine while taking Lamisil. Lab tests may be used to monitor your condition or check for side effects. Be sure to attend all of your doctor's appointments.
