How should I take Carnitor/Levocarnitine ?

Always take Carnitor exactly as your doctor has shown you. Take Carnitor during or after meals, unless you doctor has told you otherwise. Take your dose of Carnitor slowly and space your doses evenly throughout the day.

When should Carnitor /Levocarnitine not be taken?

Avoid using Carnitor if you are allergic to any ingredient in the medication.

What precautions should I follow when taking Carnitor /Levocarnitine ?

Before taking Carnitor, tell your doctor if: you are pregnant, planning on becoming pregnant, or are breast-feeding; you are taking prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement; you have allergies to medicine, foods, or other substances; or you have kidney problems or seizures.

What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Carnitor /Levocarnitine ?

Do not use products containing D, L-carnitine (vitamin BT), which are available without a prescription and in health food stores, without first checking with your doctor. If you become pregnant, talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of taking Carnitor during pregnancy. It is not known if Carnitor can be excreted in breast milk. Talk to your doctor about breast-feeding while taking Carnitor.

When should Carnitor /Levocarnitine not be taken?

Serious side effects may include: severe allergic reactions; or seizures.

Less severe side effects may include: bad taste in mouth; diarrhea; mild muscle weakness; nausea; stomach cramps; unpleasant body odor; or vomiting.
