When should Anacin /Aspirin/caffeine - non Rx not be taken?

Avoid the use of Anacin if: you are allergic to anything in the medication; you are a child or teenager with influenza or chickenpox; you have bleeding problems such as hemophilia, von Willebrand disease, or low blood platelets, or you have severe active bleeding; you have had a severe allergic reaction to aspirin, tartrazine, or a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug; or you are taking anticoagulants or methotrexate.

What precautions should I follow when taking Anacin /Aspirin/caffeine - non Rx ?

Let your doctor know of any medical conditions or medicines you are taking especially if: you are pregnant, planning on becoming pregnant, or are breast-feeding; you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement; you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances; if you have alcoholism or if you consume three or more alcoholic drinks a day; you have asthma, bleeding or clotting problems, growths in the nose, kidney or liver problems, stomach or intestinal problems, heart problems, heartburn, upset stomach, stomach pain, hives, influenza, or chickenpox, or vitamin K deficiency; you have anxiety, trouble sleeping, or heart problems; or you are a child with a stroke, weakened blood vessel or bleeding in the brain, rheumatic disease, or Kawasaki syndrome.

What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Anacin /Aspirin/caffeine - non Rx ?

Anacin may cause dizziness and you should not drive or perform any potentially dangerous activities until you are aware of your reaction to Anacin. Alcohol may worsen side effects of Anacin. Avoid large amounts of foods or drinks that contain caffeine. Before you use any new medications, check to make sure there is no aspirin in it as Anacin contains aspirin. Talk with your doctor before taking Anacin or other pain relievers/fever reducers if you drink more than three drinks of alcohol a day. Do not take more than the recommended dose or use for longer period of time than suggested. Anacin may reduce the number of clot-forming cells in your blood. Try to prevent bleeding or situations where you may become injured and bleed. Aspirin has been linked to a serious illness called Reye syndrome. Do not give Anacin to a child or teenager who has the flu, chickenpox, or a viral infection. Anacin may affect blood sugar levels and diabetics must pay close attention to signs from their body. If there is a strong vinegar smell when opening Anacin, do not use the medication, as this means it is breaking down. Tell your doctor or dentist you are taking Anacin before any surgery or dental work. Do not take Anacin for at least 7 days after a surgery unless your doctor tells you otherwise. Do not take Anacin for more than 10 days for pain or for more than 3 days for fever. Anacin is not recommended to be taken during the last 3 months of pregnancy.
