What is Aggrenox /Dipyridamole/ASA used for?

Aggrenox/Dipyridamole is used to decrease the risk of strokes in people who have had a transient ischemic attack (TIA) also known as blood clots or mini-stroke.

How should Aggrenox /Dipyridamole/ASA be stored?

Store Aggrenox/Dipyridamole at room temperature. Keep away from moisure and heat.

How should I take Aggrenox/Dipyridamole/ASA ?

There are many factors that determines how often and how much medicine to take such as the condition being treated and the patients age and weight. Ask your doctor or health care provider if you have questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking. It is important that you read all the information provided for you with the medication. When you get your prescription refilled, reread the information provided for you with the medication. Take Aggrenox/Dipyridamole as prescribed to you by your doctor or health care provider. Do not take Aggrenox/Dipyridamole in larger or smaller than the prescribed amount. Do not take Aggrenox/Dipyridamole longer than recommended by your doctor or health care provider. Take the medication with a full glass of water (8 ounces) and with or without food. Aggrenox/Dipyridamole comes in a capsule form, do not crush, chew, break or open an extended-release capsule. The medication must be swallowed in whole.

When should Aggrenox /Dipyridamole/ASA not be taken?

Do not take Aggrenox/Dipyridamole if you are allergic to aspirin or dipyridamole (Persantine). Do not take Aggrenox/Dipyridamole if you have the following: asthma, nasal polyps, or a history of allergy to a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) including Advil, Motrin, Aleve, Orudis, Indocin, Lodine, Voltaren, Toradol, Mobiv, Relafen, Feldene, etc.

What precautions should I follow when taking Aggrenox /Dipyridamole/ASA ?

Inform your doctor or health care provider the following before taking this medication: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding; if you are taking any prescription medicine (especially warfarin), herbal preparation, dietary supplement, or nonprescription medicine especially over the counter pain medication containing aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, ketoprofen, magnesiu, and/or choline salicylate. When certain products are taken together, you may have accidentally taken too much of a certain drug. While taking Aggrenox/Dipyridamole, avoid drinking alcohol because it may increase the risk of stomach bleeding. If three or more alcoholic beverages was consumed, do not take Aggrenox/Dipyridamole until your doctor or health care provider has been notified.

What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Aggrenox /Dipyridamole/ASA ?

Aggrenox/Dipyridamole is a combination of Aspirin and Dipyridamole. Children or teenagers should not be given Aspirin when they have a fever, has flu symptoms or chicken pox because it can cause Reye's syndrome, a serious and sometimes fatal condition.

When should Aggrenox /Dipyridamole/ASA not be taken?

Most severe: weakness or fainting; black, bloody, or tarry stools; coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds; severe nausea, vomiting, or stomach pain; fever lasting longer than 3 days; swelling, or pain lasting longer than 10 days; hearing problems, rining in your ears.

Most common: upset stomach, mild heartburn, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea; joint pain; drowsiness; headache.
