Cleocin Product Description
Dalacin is used to treat bacterial infections. It does not work on colds, flu, or other viral infections. Dalacin is only available by doctor's prescription. Store Dalacin in a sealed container at room temperature away from heat, moisture, and light. Keep out of reach of children. Do not refrigerate the oral liquid form of Dalacin. If chilled, the liquid can thicken and be difficult to pour. Follow the directIf you are using the capsule form of Dalacin, take the capsule with a full glass of water with meals in order to prevent irritation of the esophagus. If you are using the liquid form of Dalacin, use a specially marked measuring spoon to measure each dose exactly. Do not use the liquid form after its expiration date on the label. Keep taking this medicine for at least 10 days. This is important in "strep" infections. Serious heart problems can develop later if your infection has not entirely cleared up. If you stop taking this medicine too soon your symptoms will reappear. This medicine works best when there is a constant amount in the blood. To help keep the amount constant, do not miss any doses. It is best to take doses of Dalacin at evenly spaced intervals day and night. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule.Do not use Dalacin if you are currently using a medicine called Erythromycin. Tell your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reactions to this medicine or other medicine before using Dalacin. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or become pregnant during treatment or if you are breastfeeding a baby. There are potential risks in taking Dalacin while pregnant or breast-feeding. If you are taking Atracurium, Cyclosporine, Metocurine, or Turbocurarine, you may be at risk of certain side effects if you combine Dalacin with these medicines. Tell your doctor if you are using any of the previous medicines. If you have medical problems such as kidney disease, liver disease, or stomach or intestinal disease, they may affect the use of Dalacin. Tell your doctor about any medical problems that you have. Some medicines should not be used with alcohol or tobacco. Interactions may occur that increase your risk of side effects. Discuss the use of medicine with alcohol and tobacco with your doctor. Have your doctor monitor your progress at regular visits. If your symptoms do not improve in several days, or they become worse, inform your doctor. In some patients, Dalacin can cause diarrhea. Severe diarrhea is a serious side effect. Do not take any diarrhea medicine without first checking with your doctor. For mild diarrhea, medicine containing attapulgite (Kaopectate tablets, Diasorb) can be taken. These diarrhea medicines MUST be taken at least 2 hours before or 3 - 4 hours after you take Dalacin by mouth. Before having surgery with a general anesthetic (including dental surgery), tell the medical doctor or dentist in charge that you are taking Dalacin/Clindaycin. Seek emergency medical help if you expereince any symptoms of an allergic reaction: hives, difficulty breathing, and swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat. Call your doctor if you experience any of these serious Dalacin side effects: abdominal or Less serious side effects include: sore throat and fever, skin rash, redness and itching, unusual bleeding or bruising, or itching of rectal or genital areas.

Severe: Watery diarrhea, fever, chills, body pains, flu symptoms; unsettled stomach, stomach ache, slight fever, lack of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice, infrequent urinating, or sore throat.
Common: mild nausea or stomach pain, vaginal itching or discharge, mild skin rash or itching, or irritation in your throat.
