Description

This medication is used to improve or induce sleep, decrease nervousness, restlessness, anxiety, and stress. Kava Kava is also known as awa, ava, ava pepper, kava pepper, intoxicating pepper, kava, kew, tonga, yangona, Piper Methysticum, kava root, rauschpfeffer, wurzelstock, and sakau.This medication should be stored as directed on the package. In general, it should be stored in a sealed container at room temperature. Keep the medication away from light and moisture. Read the directions on the prescription label. Do not take larger doses than prescribed by your doctor. Take this medication as directed on the label or by your pharmacist, doctor, or other healthcare provider. If you are treating insomnia, take Kava 1 hour before bedtime. If used for other purposes, the medication can be taken one to several times a day. Kava Kava may be available in other formulations, for a more reliable dose of Kava Kava, make sure you use standardized tinctures, extracts, and solid formulations. Do not use different formulations because it will increase your risk on overdose of kava kava. Do not take Kava Kava for a long period of time because kava kava has been reported to lead to “kawanism” where you will experience symptoms of dry, feelings of poor health; flaking, discolored skin; puffy eyes; reddened eyes; blood abnormalities; muscle weakness; and a scaly skin rash.
