Promacta and it’s generic alternative i.e. Eltrombopag Olamine is used to treat autoimmune thrombocytopenia (ITP), a condition in which the body attacks its blood platelets. It works by increasing the number of platelets in the blood, which helps to prevent or stop bleeding. Promacta (Eltrombopag Olamine) is used to block certain proteins that contribute to the destruction of platelets. It is taken as a pill and can be used alone or in combination with other therapies.

Promacta Mechanism of Action:

Promacta (Eltrombopag Olamine) contains the active ingredient Eltrombopag, an oral thrombopoietin (TPO) receptor agonist that aids in the formation of blood cells by stimulating the proliferation of bone marrow stem cells.

Nplate vs Promacta

Nplate and Promacta are two different types of drugs used to treat a blood disorder called idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, or ITP. Both drugs are designed to help the body produce more platelets, which are necessary for blood clotting. Different than other types of medications, they work in various ways and have different side effects. Nplate is a drug that is made from human proteins. It helps the body produce more platelets by stimulating the bone marrow to create more blood cells. Nplate is given as an injection under the skin every week.
