Zinc is a powerful mineral. It not only can increase a person's immunity but it also can reduce the length of your cold. Zinc promotes a healthy body and this increases your recovery time from colds, a flu, and even sore throats. The reason for this is because it builds the immune system up and helps fight off bacterial infection which causes the cold and flu to remain in your body. Zinc lozenges are a great way to receive your daily zinc.

Scientists have discovered that Zinc Lozenges can reduce the duration of a cold. Zinc is a very essential mineral which should be taken to improve people's health. Zinc has been proven to help treat flu and colds. Lozenges are the best way to take zinc since it dissolves easily in the mouth. Zinc has many purposes such as sustaining a healthy immune system, promoting the healing of wounds, helping with proper growth and development. Scientists were unable to prove that zinc increased the treatment of flu and colds because they weren’t aware that size and type mattered. Evidently, the dosage of zinc is the key reason this mineral can treat colds so quickly.

The study showed that high dosages of zinc could speed up the healing process of a person who has a cold or the flu. Not only does the dosage matter, however, the type (as for citrate, acetate, and elemental zinc) has some significance as well. When this study was tested, they had people with colds put into groups. One group had placebo lozenges that had no real zinc within it; therefore it lasted for a normal time. Then there was the group which was given less than 75mg of zinc however, they did not have a faster recovery rate. As for those who were given more than 75mg of zinc, 42% of the people recovered from a cold faster than the average time. Also the last group, who was given zinc salts rather than acetate, was also given 75 mg's of zinc and they too saw results much faster.

This study showed that if a large amount of zinc such as 75 mgs is taken daily it can reduce the duration of a person's cold. The reason for this is zinc stimulates enzymes which promote a healthy biochemical reaction in the body. This makes the immune system fight to eliminate the bacteria which causes illness. Therefore, be sure to take 75 mgs of zinc in order to recover from your cold or flu quicker.

When most people think of corn, they often associate corn as generally being a healthy food. However, high fructose corn syrup, which can mainly be found in soft drinks, is the number one source of calories in the U.S; most of the calories are a result of the sugar from the corn. The reasons high fructose corn syrup has become dangerous for consumption is because it is stored in the body as fat and is derived from genetically modified corn that has its own documented complications. Unlike other carbohydrates, most grains are metabolized into sugars that cause a huge spike in blood sugar, high fructose corn syrup causes the pancreas to not produce insulin which is a signal to the brain that our stomachs are not full. This causes a vicious cycle of constant eating to feel full, which contributes to the growing epidemic of obesity in the United States. Along with this problem, elevated insulin levels are the foundations of nearly every chronic disease that is known to man, for example heart disease, diabetes, and arthritis to name a few.

According to the U.S Department of Agriculture, in the past four decades consumption of artificial sweeteners has risen from 113 pounds per person to 147 pounds in the US, alone; this was not always the case. Back in the 70s, sucrose was used as a sweetener however, once manufactures found that high fructose corn syrup was cheaper and 20% sweeter than sucrose, they made the switch; this made a huge impact on the diet of many Americans. In fact, the World Health Organization (WHO) has also recommended some limitations on high fructose corn syrup; 10% of daily calories should be from artificial sweeteners. This is even stricter than the recommendations of U.S groups.

High fructose corn syrup is now used to sweeten:

  • Soft drinks
  • Fruit juices
  • Baked goods
  • Canned fruits
  • Dairy products
  • Cookies
  • Gum
  • Jams and jellies

Be wary of food labels and be sure to avoid certain foods that contain high fructose corn syrup. The healthier you eat, the longer you live. By eating healthy you can ensure that you won’t have any health problems later down the road.
