What is Flovent Diskus/Fluticasone Used for?
Flovent is used to prevent bronchial asthma attacks by decreasing inflammation in the lungs and thereby opening the airways.
How should Flovent Diskus/Fluticasone be stored?
Flovent should be stored at room temperature, away from heat and moisture. Keep Flovent away from high heat (open flame or in a car on a hot day) as it may explode if it gets too hot.

When should Flovent Diskus/Fluticasone not be taken?
Flovent will not work fast enough to treat an asthma attack that has already begun. Use this device only for prevention. If you have an asthma attack, use a faster-acting inhalation medication to reverse your symptoms. Do not swallow the medication. Do not change your doses or medication schedule without consulting with your physician. Do not use Flovent as the primary treatment of status asthmaticus or other acute asthma conditions. People with moderate to severe bronchiectasis, active or inactive untreated pulmonary tuberculosis, untreated fungal, bacterial or viral infections should not use Flovent. Do not use this medication if you are allergic to fluticasone, milk or lactose (for Flovent Diskus only) or to any of the other ingredients in the medication.
What precautions should I follow when taking Flovent Diskus/Fluticasone?
Consult with your physician before using Flovent and tell them if you have any medical conditions, allergies, or if you are taking any other medications. Be sure to let them know if you have been sick or had an infection of any kind, if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breast-feeding. Long-term use of steroids may lead to bone loss. Consult with your physician about your individual risk of osteoporosis.
What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Flovent Diskus/Fluticasone?
Avoid being near people who are sick or have infections. Talk to your doctor about preventive treatment if you are exposed to the measles or chicken pox. Flovent can affect growth in children. It is not know whether Flovent is harmful to an unborn baby or if it passes into breast-milk.
What are the side effects of Flovent Diskus/Fluticasone?
Severe side effects include: severe allergic reactions; skin rash, bruising, severe tingling, numbness, pain, muscle weakness; wheezing or breathing problems after using this medication; signs of infection such as fever, chills, sore throat, ear pain, flu symptoms; blurred vision, eye pain, or seeing halos around lights; weakness, tired feeling, nausea, vomiting, feeling like you might pass out; or worsening asthma symptoms.
Common side effects include: headache; stuffy nose, sinus pain, cough; white patches or sores inside your mouth or on your lips; dryness in your mouth, nose, or throat; or hoarseness or deepened voice.
