This medication is used to treat fungal infections in any part of the body such as the esophagus, mouth, throat lungs, skin, or bladder.Store at room temperature. Shake well before using. It is important not to miss any doctor appointments.Do not use Nizoral (ketoconazole) if you are allergic to Ketoconazole or are also taking triazolam (Halcion).Before taking Nizoral (ketoconazole), inform your doctors if you have the following: if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding; if you have decreased stomach acid (achlorhydria); liver disease; kidney disease; a heart rhythm disorder; or a personal or family history of "Long QT syndrome".When taking Nizoral (ketoconazole), avoid drinking alcohol because it can cause unpleasant side effects. In addition, wait for at least 2 hours before you take any antacids or stomach acid reducers such as Tagamet, Pepcid, Axid, Zantac, and others).Most severe: Fainting, fast or pounding heartbeat, or dizziness; easy bleeding or bruising, unusual weakness; tingly or numbness feeling; severe confusion, depression, or thoughts of hurting yourself; stomach pain, loss of appetite, nausea, low fever, weakness, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), or dark urine.Common: Skin rash or mild itching; vomiting, mild nausea, or stomach pain; dizziness, impotence or loss of interest in sex; headache; or breast swelling.Other: None.
