Nasonex/Mometasone is a medication used to treat or prevent nasal symptoms caused by seasonal or year-round allergies. These symptoms include congestion, sneezing, and runny nose. Nasonex/Mometasone may also be used to treat growth in the nose, also known as nasal polyps, in adults.Store upright at room temperature. Protect from moisture and heat. After 120 sprays, throw the medication away.This medication comes with safe and effective instructions for the patient, follow these directions carefully. Your doctor may advise you to start using Nasonex/Mometasone 2 to 4 weeks before allergy season. A normal dose of Nasonex/Mometasone is 1 to 2 sprays into each nostril once per day. When using the spray for the first time, prime the spray by shaking the medication well and spraying into the air, away from your face, until a fine mist appears. You will need to prime the spray if you have not used the nasal spray for over 7 days.Do not take Nasonex if you are allergic to insulin mometasone.Before using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding; if you are taking any prescription medicine, nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement; if you sick or had an infection of any kind, if you have glaucoma or cataracts; if you have herpes simplex virus of your eyes; if you have tuberculosis or any other infection or illness; if you have sores or ulcers inside your nose; or if you have recently had injury of or surgery on your nose.When on Nasonex/Mometasone, it may take up to 2 weeks before symptoms improve. Avoid being near sick people or people with infections because Nasonex/Mometasone can lower blood cells that help your body fight infections. Contact your doctor if you were exposed to chicken pox or measles.  Avoid getting this medication in your eyes. If this happens, rinse with water and contact your doctor. This medication can affect the growth of children, talk to your doctor if you believe your child is not growing at a normal rate while on Nasonex/Mometasone.Most severe: Severe or ongoing nose bleed; sores in the nose that won't heal; wheezing, trouble breathing; vision problems; or fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms.Most common: Headache; stuffy nose, sore throat, cough; muscle or joint pain; nausea; or sores or white patches inside or around the nose.Other: None.
