Study Says Those That Are Spanked Have Lower IQ
According to a recent study, kids who get spanked have lower IQ's. Yeah, I know it sounds weird considering their brain isn't located at the end of the body... if it is then I would suggest seeing a doctor immediately.
Anyways, I'm a little bit skeptical about results of the study. I don't necessarily believe that spanking your kid will actually drop his/her IQ. It might cause some sort of weird trauma incident later on in life that results in weird sorts of fetish's and "interesting" stuff like that. But I'm sure you'll find out if your kid has daddy issues somewhere down the line and you don't need me to tell you that.
However, I do believe there is something to this study. I don't believe that spanking CAUSES your child's IQ to drop. They may become depressed, go to drugs, who knows maybe even start listening to rock and roll (those were the days). I do believe that spanking your child is probably a good indication that your child isn't going to be the next Einstein. All that repeated spankings tell you is that your child is not smart enough to LEARN from the spankings. I mean if you're spanking your kid for skillfully placing a would-be record setting amount of crayons in their nose 20 times then your child may need some extra tutoring in school somewhere down the line.
Now before any angry parent/child that was spanked starts saying "hey, I was spanked and I turned out fine!" I would like to say two things. One, I didn't say EVERYONE that gets spanked has a lower then average IQ. Two, if you're 50, working at McDonald's, and haven't been promoted since you started there in Junior High School, then you are one of those people that was spanked repeatedly for doing something stupid, be quiet and go read a book or something.
NOTE: I do not suggest spanking your child as I very strongly disagree with physically harming your child or anyone for that matter... However feel free to emotionally traumatize them, it leaves just as much, if not more pain, without leaving any visible marks and lasts a lot longer. For those of you that fit into the low IQ bracket that second bit about the emotional abuse was a joke.

Domperidone, What People Are Using It For
Domperidone is really quite an interesting drug. The actual purpose of the drug isn't the most interesting thing as it is designed to increase the contractions and movements of the stomach and bowel. However, the potential side effects of the drug and how people use them is what's interesting.
Yes, almost every drug known to man has some sort of side effect, from coughing or headaches to internal bleeding and death. However, domperidone has some, well mostly one really unusual side effect. When taking the drug it can increase the amount of breast milk in women AND men (at least it doesn't cause life threatening skin rashes). However, there are some women who do take domperidone in order to increase their breast milk, but the FDA has warned against this because the effects of the drug on newborn babies is unknown. Similarly, the FDA also warns against using domperidone during pregnancy due to the unknown effect on the child while in the womb. However, studies have shown that domperidone has not cause any birth defects in animals.
Even more interesting is hearing about how some men are using domperidone in order to produce breast milk. Why? Good question, I have no idea. I personally would be quite scared if all of a sudden I started producing milk. Not my way of having a good time, but to each their own. However, there are serious side effects that are a very real possibility. Some of the more serious side effects include irregular heart beat, swelling of face, hands, lower legs, and feet, loss of muscle control, and a few others. Also, there is the chance of an overdose which can be fatal.
Regardless, of what gender you are you should definitely talk with you doctor before really deciding on a course of action. Your doctor will know what is best for you and can inform you of all the risks and all the benefits of the drug. From there you can make up your own mind if domperidone is right for you.

Building Personal Exercise Habits for Life
As most of us know exercising is a crucial part of staying healthy, along with eating a healthy diet. However, variety is key in both cases. You might love potatoes, but if you have those same type of potatoes every night they start to get boring and you don't want them anymore. The same is true for exercise. If you don't vary your routine then you can become bored and just give up. Also, by staying to a fixed routine your muscles become used to doing the same thing over and over again, much like muscle memory.
The idea of switching your routine is used very frequently with many successful workout tapes and guides. If you can't think of one of the top of your head just remember P90X. The same concept is used in P90X, they call it muscle confusion. It focuses on varying the routine so your muscles don't adjust to one routine. This way your muscles are challenged and you can actually work more efficiently.
Also, something to remember is that you shouldn't focus on the same muscle groups everyday. Try to switch up your workout so you give specific muscle groups 2 days to rest. For example if you worked out your arms and back one day do your core the next day. Then the day after your core work your legs. This lets your muscle groups rest and repair.
Well if you're sitting there not knowing what you can do to vary up your routine don't worry. There are different types of exercises you can do. If you love running, that's great, but try to do some strength training as well.
Aerobic exercise can feature a vast number of exercises. Jogging for example is an aerobic exercise. The main goal of aerobics is to get your heart to really start working. By doing this the amount of oxygen in your blood will improve. Also exercise has been known to release things like endorphins which are your bodies natural painkillers. Additionally, your immune system should receive a boost and your blood will pump much more efficiently. Also, you will begin to see an increase in your overall stamina.
Interval training has been proven to condition your heart and burn fat more efficiently then just jogging or walking. Try some sprints with gentle recovery periods. You will notice you will be saving more time by doing interval training, but still see results. Interval training is also a great way to really improve your cardiovascular fitness and fat-burning abilities.
Next is my personal favorite type of training, strength training. Make sure you include some sort of strength training into your normal exercise program. The goal is to really exhaust your muscles. Right to the point when you can feel your muscles screaming to stop, but you've just got to pump out one more rep. Don't hurt yourself doing this though, waiting for injuries to heal isn't fun.
Finally, we move onto core exercises. These are probably my worst area of fitness. I personally have never liked core exercises, but that probably has something to do with the fact that I've never really had good core muscles. However, core muscles are probably some of the most important muscles to work. They provide the building blocks for movement and help protect parts of your body. Also, building core muscles can help increase your balance and stability, for all you sports fans or the extra clumsy.
Exercising regularly is key to keeping one healthy. Many people don't remember that and I think that's why they don't get motivated. If you want to have abs then go workout. It won't just magically happen overnight. You need to be determined, you need to want it, you need to stay focused. Working out isn't easy, but it definitely can be fun. Try to enjoy yourself. Find someone to go to the gym with. This might help keep you going back to the gym and staying on track.
If you're still not convinced how about these reasons why exercise can improve your health.
1. Lower your blood pressure 2. Helps prevent and fight off colds 3. Manage arthritis 4. Lower your risk of heart disease 5. Helps cure insomnia 6. Fight depression 7. Lower your risk of diabetes and reverse pre-diabetes 8. Build strong bones 9. Lose weight 10. Reduces your risk of cancer 11. Helps you think better 12. Helps relieve chronic knee pain 13. Increases your energy levels 14. Slow down your aging process

Male Enhancement Gone Terribly Terribly Wrong
If you own a television then you've probably seen the late night advertisements for male enhancements like extenze and all the other pills that promise this and that. But sometimes some people just go too far... way too far.
A man had to call the local fire department when he accidentally managed to get a steel dumbbell stuck onto his penis. The police have reported that the man was attempting to enlarge the size of his penis. Well he succeeded, if only temporarily. His organ had swollen to five times its normal size. That's not a good thing, at least not in this case. Eventually the man was convinced that he had to have the dumbbell removed surgically. It was either that or the flesh in his penis would die. Hmm, tough choice (obvious sarcasm).
Okay let me just say this right now. Do not ever and I mean EVER try something like this. If you really like your penis that much the best thing is to keep it away from steel dumbbells. If you've seriously considered penis enlargement with these oral products I would probably say your money can be spent better elsewhere. The average penis size is about 5-6 or 7 inches. In most cases all you really need is about 4 inches though. However, if you really do feel like you need to take these male enhancements then please talk to your doctor first. He or she will probably tell you not to stick your penis into a steel dumbbell.

Mortality Rate From Unintended Injury Rises. Americans Are Poisoning Themselves To Death
Would you be surprised if I told you that in a span of about 6 years (1999-2005) the mortality rate from unintended injury rose by 11% in the United States? Well you should be. Those numbers are almost too high to believe, but the statistics are completely true.
The truth of the matter is we're slowly killing ourselves. There have been unusually high spikes in poisoning deaths and deaths from falls. The deaths from falling may be just due to older age or simply because someone had a few too many drinks and accidentally fell off a cliff. However, the fact that poisoning deaths increased in dramatic fashion is what really scares me. America, you've become one big drug addict.
I'm not saying that drugs (prescription drugs) are bad, many people rely on some of these medications to live. However, when you start taking pills for sleeping, upset stomachs, muscle pain, sneezing, that weird twitch in your eye, etc, it starts to add up. Over medicating is a very real problem in America that often goes overlooked.
When anyone starts taking more drugs than they can remember, there is definitely going to be problems. There is only so much your body can take. It's kind of like alcohol, sure a drink every so often is okay, but when you go get totally smashed every night for a lengthy period of time then expect there to be some sort of damage to your body. People begin to think that if something isn't illegal it won't harm you and that's where many people are wrong.
My grade 11 teacher told me that North American society is the most medicated society in the world. He couldn't have been more right. It seems to me that people are just taking pills because they can. If your having trouble sleeping try working out, putting some soft music on don't pop a pill. America you need some serious rehab. Hopefully the citizens will listen up and give you what you need.

Two Swine Flu Vaccine Shots Needed For Children Under Ten Years of Age
Well it looks like any children under the age of 10 will have to have 2 swine flu shots instead of the single one previously thought. In children under 10 years of age the vaccine protects only 36% or lower however, they will be able to receive a second shot about 3 weeks after the first one and this should significantly increase the percentage of protection.
The good news is that the Swine flu vaccine appears to be working quite well in older children. Experts are reporting that the vaccine is at a protection percentage of about 76%. This is considered by many a very good amount of protection for a vaccine. It is expected that sometime in the near future children will be getting their swine flu vaccine at the same time as their seasonal flu vaccine.
Thankfully no serious side effects have occurred from the H1N1 vaccine and hopefully none will. The worst I want to get is a cold. I don't want to be experiencing some weird mutations from a vaccine shot... or do I? Well if I get super awesome powers like some of the X-Men like Wolverine then I'm fine, but if it's like some nuclear mutation where I grow another limb then maybe not so much. But thankfully the experts don't think that will happen. But wouldn't be kind of cool if it did?

Why You Should Drink Tap Water
Buying bottled water and water jugs will burn a hole in your pocket - the money saving solution? Tap water. Studies have shown that there is very little difference between tap water and bottled water. "Bottled water may be no safer, or healthier, than tap water in many countries while selling for up to 1,000 times the price," the World Wildlife Fund said. Aside from the convenience and clear taste of bottled water, it actually may be MORE harmful to you than the water from your tap. The Environmental Protection agency requires that utility water must be tested over 100 times a month, whereas bottled water factories are only required to test their water once a week. Toxins, arsenic, microbes, and pollutants have been found in various plastic water bottle brands, and some bottles have also been known to leak plastic chemicals into the water within them. Drinking tap water is better for the environment too. Think of all the plastic waste and toxic chemicals that bottled water companies pollute our environment with. Beverage companies spend over 17.6 million dollars in oil to produce the bottled water they manufacture, not including the cost of transport. Bottled water isn't all it's cut out to be – beverage companies have also been known to take water from municipal or underground water sources that local people use. Up to 40% of the water in bottled water often comes from taps. Before you buy a case of plastic water bottles - instead, consider buying a Brita filter for tap water. You'll end up saving money, saving the environment, and living healthier. Ways To Relieve Muscle Pain
If you've worked out or done some sort of physically stressful activity you've probably noticed that your muscles tend to feel really sore a day or two after. This is called delayed onset muscle soreness. Now everyone I know hates this muscle soreness due to the fact that it hurts to really do anything involving those muscles. Although I do like the soreness only for the fact that I know I was working fairly hard. However, I always wish that the pain wouldn't take so long to go away because it can interfere with daily activities. So I went to try and find different ideas on how to relieve this type of muscle soreness.
Some ideas I found included doing this like: Take an Ice Bath- Many athletes do this because it helps with the acid in your body that lead to the muscle soreness. This helps boost the recovery time greatly... or so I've been told.
Active Recovery- some athletes participate in active recovery instead of complete rest. This means that after a hard workout or a big competition instead of resting the following days athletes workout at lower intensities. Some studies have shown that this may help lactic acid removal and speed recovery time
Take an Anti-Inflammatory Medicine- Although the anti-inflammatory medicine (something like aspirin) does not speed recovery time it does help with the pain temporarily.
R.I.C.E- Rest, Ice Compression, and Elevation. Resting will help the injury heal, ice will reduce blood flow and may reduce swelling, compression also reduces swelling, and elevation will help heal the injury faster.
Always remember to warm up and stretch before doing any sort of workout or strenuous physical activity. This will help keep you from getting injured. Labels: active recovery, anti-inflammatory, aspirin, athletes, ice bath, muscle ache, muscle soreness, R.I.C.E, workout

5 Body Signs Explained!
We've all had little clues that our bodies sent out to us when something isn't right. Here is a list of five body clues explained that are common in many young women!
1. More hair in the drain
The reason may be because of your birth control pills. The estrogen in the birth control usually triggers hair growth when it is first taken, but several months later, the hair then goes into a loss phase. Don't worry - It shouldn't last for more than a couple months.
2. Tylenol pain relievers made your headache worse!
This is usually called a "rebound" headache. It is a side effect of over the counter headache pills. When you take a pain reliever, your brain becomes sensitized to it, so when you stop taking it, you may suffer from symptoms of withdrawal - like another headache.
3. You become light headed when you stand up
This could be caused by dehydration. Dehydration can make your blood pressure drop, and that is what causes the dizzy feeling. Drink water throughout the day and try to eat foods with a high water content - like soup and fruit. If the feeling continues every time you get up, see your doctor.
4. You have dark under-eye circles!
If you do not get enough sleep, your circulation slows down and blood vessels under your eyes become swollen and give off a blue tint through the skin. Eight hours of sleep every night will ensure your blood flow is healthy, and prevent you from developing dark circles under your eyes. If you do have dark circles, avoid touching them - touching them may trigger bruises that make them worse! It the circles persist, consult your doctor.
5. You woke up and can't fall asleep again
If you've been drinking, then booze is the problem. Two servings of alcohol can interfere with your ability to deep sleep, causing you to wake up after you fall asleep. Limit yourself to one drink at least four hours before bed – and you should be able to sleep all night!
If that isn't the problem, you may have insomnia caused by stress. Try relaxing a few hours before bed by having a bubble bath, reading a book, or doing another calming activity. H1N1 Vaccine Approved By United States Health Officials
For anyone that is fearful of contracting Swine Flu there is good news. United States health officials have approved the H1N1 vaccines and have said that there will be enough for everyone. Am I sold on the ideas that the vaccines works and there really will be enough for everyone? I'm not too sure.
The vaccine probably works mildly and does help prevent the contraction of Swine Flu, but I don't think it is the cure to stopping the spread of the virus. I mean even some of the best defenses can't stop everything. The Steelers can't stop all of the plays the Colts through at them, but they can sure stop most of them.
Now as for there being enough vaccines for all of America I'm not so sure there will be. However, at the same time I'm not sure there will need to be enough vaccines for all 300 million or so people in the United States. I don't think the government and drug manufacturers can supply that many people, but I doubt that everyone will want one, even though they will be free.
Either way the option of getting the vaccine is out there. Whether or not you actually go and get the vaccine is up to you.

Benefits of Protein Powders
Well if you've decided to really get serious about exercising and want to put on some muscle then you've probably thought about protein powders. Not because you know how they work, but because you always see them being sold at your gym and most guys with huge muscles taking them. Ever wondered how they work? Yes. Great.
In protein powders there is, obviously protein. Duh! Well as it turns out protein is very good for your muscles. In fact, protein helps build and repair muscles and bones, repairs body cells, provides energy, and controls a lot of the important processes within the body that have to do with metabolism.
Obviously, many people that work out and take protein powder use it for the building muscle part of the product however many people don't realize that these people use it for the recovery too. Most athletes take the powder in protein shakes before and after a workout to ensure muscle development and muscle recovery. This can help the athlete work out longer and not feel as sore in the morning.
However, everyone should be aware that taking protein powder without working out can lead to some problems. Some people have had kidney and liver problems because they take a lot of the powder, but don't actually work out and don't drink enough water. This causes toxins to be released into your body which is obviously not good. Also, some people experience weight gain. Remember to work out at least 3 times a week if you're taking protein powders on a regular basis.

5 Things that are Harming your Skin
1. Picking at Pimples!Picking, popping, or squeezing pimples will actually cause them to become more red and inflamed – and the oil on your fingers will make them worse. 2. Salon Tanning No matter what kind of UV rays you expose yourself to, you are damaging your skin. Tanning beds and booths emit UV light just like the sun that can burn, cause premature aging, cancer, and sunspots.
3. Shaving with 4 blade razors
If you have acne or bumpy skin, getting the closest shave, isn't for you. They may have promoting commercials, but these razors end up shaving off more than they should – including layers of skin. To prevent skin irritation, avoid the razors that give you "the closest shave".
4. Smoking
Smoking has more risks that lung cancer and heart disease. Over time, nicotine will start to cause the blood vessels in your skin to contract, preventing oxygen flow throughout skin cells. Keep smoking and one day you’ll end up with saggy, possibly yellow-ish skin - quit smoking and you may save your skin. 5. Too much Vitamin AVitamin is said to help with acne, however too much of it can cause serious internal problems like severe liver damage. Be careful and take your vitamin A in the right doses. Pumpkin, carrots, and spinach are good sources of vitamin A, but don't go crazy on the vitamins - try treating acne with oral Accutane - as prescribed by your doctor. Late Sleepers Productive Longer then Early Birds
A new study has shown that night owls (people not the birds) may have an advantage over those that are considered the early birds. First of all let me take a few seconds to enjoy this, as I myself am a night owl and would like to bask in the glory and true awesomeness of having some sort of advantage over those people that wake early and try to sieze the day. Well that felt pretty good to get that off my chest. Anyway where was I? Oh yes, awesomeness and how I along with my night owl bretheren possess it.
To carry on, a study was done where two groups of people had their brain waves monitored and reaction test taken two times during the day. The first group was the "early birds" most woke up at 7am, eww morning time with a single digit. And the second and obviously far superior group was the "night owls" who woke at around 11am.
Both groups received reaction tests and fMRI (Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging) 90 minutes after waking up and 10.5 hours after waking up. During the first tests at 90 minutes post-wake up both groups scored aboutu the same. However, at the 10.5 hours post-wake up tests the night owl group scored significantly better. The night owl group also showed that their brain waves were more active and could be more productive at later times unlike the early birds.
Although he early birds showed that they could recover from tiredness (sleep pressure) quicker than Night owls.

Teens Smoking Contraband Cigarettes
A recent study has shown that a fairly large part of teens that smoke regularly smoke contraband cigarettes. The study was probably meant to get people to tighten the manufacturing and sales of cigarettes because, "Oh no! The kids are smoking them." The problem is, if these kids are smoking regularly already, stopping the production of contraband cigarettes will not stop that. Teens find a way to do almost anything. This smells like more of a cash grab.
It seems that someone making a huge profit from the sales of the cigarettes is being hurt financially by the increasing sale of cigarettes. Here's the problem. Taxes on cigarettes are huge, most of the cost of buying smokes is actually more likely to be for the taxes. So when illegal cigarettes are being manufactured and then sold for, what I think must be a much lower price, why buy legal smokes? I don't smoke, but I also don't think the taxes on cigarettes should be so high that they cost the consumer more than the actual cigarette. That really isn't fair to the consumer.
Honestly, the smoking will come back and cost the consumer something in the end. Most consumers know this, so as long as they have this knowledge, why stop them from killing themselves?

American Conservatives Fight Against UNESCO Sex Education Guidelines
If someone proposed a possible plan that could significantly decrease the number of unwanted pregnancies and slow the spread of sexually transmitted diseases (STD's), then wouldn't you want to hear more? Well that is exactly what the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), is trying to do. They are attempting to establish new guidelines on sex education in schools. However, American Conservatives are trying to fight it (big surprise there) like the plague (or swine flu).
The goal of the new proposal is to scale back the 111 million new cases of STD's reported in those ages 10-24 eac h year. Also, this new plan could reduce the 4.4 million abortions sought by women ages 15-19 every year. Now this sounds like something Conservatives would promote, but apparently they don't see what's wrong with some of the youth in the country.
The U.S. Conservatives have begun to battle the new guidelines after seeing an online version of the UNESCO working document. The main issue Conservatives have spoken out against is the recommendation that teachers should introduce sex education to younger children. The new guidelines suggest that sex education start at the ages of 5-8, however it would be more of an introduction to sex ed. While this might seem too young, with the problem of teen pregnancies, and the high number of abortions (for all you pro-life people out there), I think it is time for a change.
American Conservatives insist that t he only "legitimate" way of avoiding pregnancy and STD's is abstinence. While yes, it is the safest and only 100% way of avoiding pregnancy and STD's not everyone will do it. In fact MOST people won't do it. Even the majority of religious people like Christians will NOT do it (Palin's daughter).
Furthermore, many conservative governments all over the world SUPPORT this idea. It is time for a change and that is what needs to happen, not what should happen.
