International online pharmacy to give away ten - $500 credits to persons who can't afford prescription medications, says DoctorSolve.

Drug costs are forcing patients to do without their medications. Canadian online pharmacy is helping to make them more affordable with a $500 credit for 10 patients.

Vancouver, B.C. (PRWeb) - February 17, 2009 -- It's a widely known fact that Americans pay more for their medications than anyone else in the world. The current economic climate, rising cost of drugs, higher co-pays, and this year's increase in Medicare Part D premiums all amount to more people not taking their meds because they simply can't afford them.

Dr. Paul Zickler, co-founder of DoctorSolve Healthcare Solutionshttp://www.doctorsolve.com/, a Canadian Internet pharmacy, feels this is a deplorable situation that compromises patient health. "If medications for chronic conditions like high cholesterol, high blood pressure, osteoporosis and diabetes are not taken as directed, it will lead to dire consequences. Patients shouldn't have to choose between rent, utilities and food or their health."

Tell your story to DoctorSolve Healthcare Solutions and you could win a $500 pharmaceutical credit

Dr. Zickler and DoctorSolve Healthcare Solutions are inviting Americans to share their personal health stories with DoctorSolve patients for a chance to win a $500 credit. Write to us and tell us about the challenges you face with your medications, the economy and the healthcare system. We'll award a $500 credit for each of the ten best stories," says Zickler. Credits can be redeemed for prescription drugs on http://www.doctorsolve.com/. A doctor's prescription is required. Patients are reminded to search the DoctorSolve website to determine if your required medications are offered.

Stories will be posted on the DoctorSolve blog with only the first name and the first initial of the author's last name. Contest closes March 31, 2009. Visit the $500 credit contest page for more details.

Patients turn to online pharmacies to save up to 70% on their prescription drugs.

These are desperate times. It used to be that people on fixed incomes were the only ones who couldn't fill their prescriptions. But now, even higher income Americans with insurance can't afford their meds. More and more people are turning to online pharmacies. Patients who order from Canadian, CIPA-certified online pharmacies can save up to 70% on quality, safe, affordable medications.

"DoctorSolve Healthcare Solutions was created to help people take care of their health with easier access to affordable prescription drugs," says Zickler. "We're taking that further by giving away ten - $500 pharmaceutical credits to help those who need it most."

9 out of 10 Seniors Forced to Pay Higher Premiums in Medicare Part D, Says DoctorSolve Healthcare Services

2009 marks higher premium costs in Medicare Part D as seniors get poorer - and it's too late to change plans.

Vancouver, B.C. (PRWEB) February 10, 2009 -- Before Barack Obama took office, pharmaceutical companies took one last "kick at the can" to squeeze more money from American seniors.

Despite the economic crisis that hit in 2008, premiums under Medicare Part D escalated an average of 25 percent in 2009. What's more, if beneficiaries haven't switched to a plan with lower premiums by now, it's too late for this year.

At a time when stock markets have plunged and retirement accounts have all but been wiped out, most seniors can ill afford higher Medicare premiums. Yet 9 out of 10 seniors are faced with them.

Medicare Part D donut hole is closer than Americans think. "It may not seem too bad right now because it's early," says Dr. Zickler, co-founder of DoctorSolve Healthcare Services. At this point, beneficiaries are paying their $295 deductible and 25% of their total drug costs. But, when they reach $2,700 in total drug costs, including the yearly deductible and co-pay amounts, they are in the donut hole - meaning they must pay 100% of their drug costs.

"The donut hole creeps up sooner than most people expect," says Zickler. "That's when they start looking for ways to cut back. This may mean asking their pharmacists and doctors to recommend less expensive generic drugs, cutting their pills in half to make them last longer, or they may stop taking their medications altogether because they have to choose between drugs and food."

To stave off the donut hole, some Americans are turning to reputable, Canadian-owned pharmacies to buy their higher priced medications. "They can save up to 70% on their prescriptions," says Zickler. "It's a smart, cost-effective way to stay on their prescribed medication regime, extend the benefits of their Medicare Part D plan, and keep them out of the donut hole longer."

Buying drugs from online pharmacies gets nod in Obama Healthcare Reform Plan:

Also known as "drug importation," the practice was forbidden by the Bush administration, but it is actually endorsed under the Obama Healthcare Reform Plan, provided "the drugs are safe and the prices are lower outside the U.S."

If Barack Obama makes good on the promises outlined in his Healthcare Reform Plan, drug costs should be headed downward and Americans should enjoy a healthcare system that puts their needs ahead of drug companies. But, President Obama has a long "To Do" list and realistically, it will take some time before his plan comes to fruition.

Meanwhile, American seniors know that they can count on Canadian online pharmacies. States Zickler, "Canada has some of the strictest pharmaceutical standards in the world. Not only do patients save up to 70% with CIPA-certified international pharmacies, but they can rest assured that they're getting medications that are also 100% safe."

Can Zanaflex (tizanidine) relieve my muscle spasms?

Zanaflex (Tizanidine) is mainly used for treating muscle spasm, cramping, and tightness, blocking nerves from stimulating muscles to contract. It is used to treat patients with multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injuries, and other relating disorders.

Before using Zanaflex, tell your doctor if you are allergic to Zanaflex or to any other drug, you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant or are breast-feeding a baby during treatment. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter, vitamins, minerals and herbal products that you use. Also, let your doctor know if you have liver disease, kidney disease, high or low blood pressure and a history of Long QT syndrome.

Important information about Zanaflex:

  • Zanaflex is a short-acting medication that should be taken only for daily activities that require relief from muscle spasticity.
  • Do not take more than three doses (36 mg) of Zanaflex in a 24-hour period. Too much of this medication can damage your liver.
  • Cold or allergy medicine, narcotic pain medicine, sleeping pills, other muscle relaxers, and medicine for seizures, depression or anxiety can add to sleepiness caused by Zanafex.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol. It can increase some of the side effects of Zanaflex.
  • Your liver function will need to be tested on a regular basis.
  • Do not stop using this medication suddenly without first talking to your doctor.
  • Do not use Zanaflex at a time Shen muscle tone is needed to assure safe balance and movement for certain activities.

Side Effects:

  • Sweating or skin rash

How can I prevent muscle spasms?

Exercising everyday and eating a high mineral diet would definitely help. Exercising every day does not always mean working out in a gym everyday, you can also exercise by integrating more walks, hiking, biking, swimming, and doing yoga to stay healthy. Make sure you stretch before you exercise.

How can Vagisil help me?

Vagisil is a local anesthetic (numbing) medication that works by blocking the nerve signals in your body. It is used to numb the skin or surfaces inside the mouth, nose, and throat. It also reduces the pain or discomfort of inserting medical instruments into the vagina or rectum such as a tube or speculum. Vagisil can also be used to decrease the amount of pain or discomfort caused by minor pain on a surface of the body.

Tell your doctor if you have/are:

  • Allergic to Vagisil or any other drug
  • Pregnant or plan to become pregnant
  • Breast-feeding
  • Taking any other prescription or over-the-counter medications including vitamins, minerals and herbal products.
  • Asthma, bronchitis, emphysema or other breathing disorder
  • Heart disease
  • A personal or family history of blood cell disorder called methemoglobinemia or any genetic enzyme deficiency
  • A smoker

What are the precautions for Vagisil?

Overdosing on Vagisil or any other numbing medications can be fatal. Do not apply too much of the medicine on your skin because the medicine will be absorbed through the skin and into the blood. Symptoms of overdosing include uneven heartbeats, seizure or convulsions, coma, and slowed or stopped breathing (respiratory failure). Always use the smallest amount of this medication needed to numb the skin or relieve pain. Do not use large amounts of Vagisil.

Do not cover treated skin areas with a bandage or plastic wrap without asking your doctor. Do not use Vagisil topical to treat large skin areas or deep puncture wounds. Avoid getting this medication in your eyes. You must avoid eating within 1 hour after using Vagisil on your gums or inside your mouth. Do not use this medicine on a child younger than 1 year old.

How do I take Vagisil?

Read the label on the medication and take medication as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use this medication longer than recommended. Do not use larger or smaller amounts of the medication. When treating a minor skin condition, apply a thin layer on to the affected area up to 4 times a day. If your medication comes in a spray, spray medication 6 – 12 inches away from skin. If the affected area is on your face, spray medication on your hands and then apply it on to the affected area on your face.

Avoid contact with your eyes and do not spray onto your face. Do not use Vagisil on large affected skin areas, deep punctured wounds, raw or blistered skin from a severe burn or abrasion. Store Vagisil at room temperature and away from the heat or moisture. Do not freeze.

If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double up on doses. You may or may not be on a dosing schedule.

Side effects:

Serious side effects:

  • Severe burning, stinging, or sensitivity where the medicine is applied
  • Swelling, warmth, or redness
  • Oozing, blistering, or any signs of infection
  • Headache, weakness, dizziness, breathing problems, fast heart rate, and gray or bluish Colored skin (rare but serious side effects of benzocaine)

Less serious side effects:

  • Mild stinging, burning, or itching where the medicine is applied
  • Skin tenderness or redness
  • Dry white flakes where the medicine was applied
