Sanctura

Sancutra is a quaternary ammonium compound, used for the treatment of overactive bladder and symptoms of urinary incontinence, urgency and urinary frequency. It works by relaxing the muscle tissue in the bladder and by decreasing contraction in bladder.

Important Information

Do not use Sanctura while driving or operating machinery as it may cause dizziness and temporary blurring of vision. Do not use this medicine excessively and for prolonged periods of time.

Avoid becoming overheated or dehydrated during exercise and in hot weather as Sanctura can decrease sweating, which can lead to heat stroke. Avoid use of alcohol during the treatment.

Tell your doctor if

  • You are allergic to Sanctura or any of its ingredients.
  • You are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.

Not to be used, if you have

  • Urinary retention
  • Gastric retention
  • Allergic reactions to Sanctura or any of its ingredients
  • Kidney and liver problems
  • Untreated or uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma

Dosage

The recommended dose is 20 mg twice in a day. Take Sanctura on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before a meal. If you missed one, skip the missed dose and take the next dose at your regular time.

Sanctura Side Effects

Most severe: Allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives).

Most common: Dry mouth, dryness of the eyes, blurred vision or large pupils, upset stomach, headache, constipation, difficulty urinating.
