What is Westcort Cream used for?
This medicine is used to relieve inflammation, skin allergy and itching.
When should Westcort Cream not be taken?
Do not use this medicine if you and/or your child are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine untreated fungal, bacterial or viral infections of the skin
What precautions should I follow when taking Westcort Cream?
Before using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding if you are taking any other prescription or nonprescription medicine or dietary supplement if you have any other medical condition
What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Westcort Cream?
Use this medicine with caution on leisions close to the eye. Prolonged use of this medicine may cause skin wasting. Do not use this medicine excessively on large areas of skin for prolonged periods of time. Do not use this medicine for children under 12 years of age.
What are the side effects of Westcort Cream?
Most severe: Severe allergic reaction, failure of wounds to heal
Most common: Burning; itching; irritation; dryness; inflammation of hair follicles; acne; loss of skin color; skin infection; allergic reaction; maceration of the skin; secondary infection; streaking of the skin.
Other: Cataracts
How should I take Westcort Cream?
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. This medicine is for external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes. Apply cream to the affected skin areas 2 to 3 times daily or as directed by your health care provider. Do not cover or bandage treated skin unless advised to do so by your health care provider. If an infection develops, the use of occlusive dressings (eg, bandages) should be discontinued. Report any signs of reaction to your health care provider. Stop using this medicine if irritation occurs. Lab tests may be required to monitor therapy. Be sure to keep appointments. Do not take over-the-counter or prescription medications or dietary supplements without talking with your health care provider. Do not take more medicine or change the dose unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Patients with other medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medicine. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised to by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider.
How should Westcort Cream be stored?
Store below 78 degrees F. Protect from light. Store in carton until all contents are used.
