What is Serevent Diskus used for?
This medicine is indicated for the prevention of exercise-induced bronchospasm in patients 4 years of age and older. This medicine is also used for the maintenance treatment of bronchospasm associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) (including emphysema and chronic bronchitis).
When should Serevent Diskus not be taken?
Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine or to similar medications.
What precautions should I follow when taking Serevent Diskus?
Before using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, plan on becoming pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking or planning to take any prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have any other medical condition if you have high blood pressure or a heart condition, if you are using tricyclic anti-depressants or MAO inhibitors
What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Serevent Diskus?
This medicine does not replace fast-acting inhalers for sudden symptoms and should not be taken more than twice a day.
What are the side effects of Serevent Diskus?
Most severe: Abdominal pain, allergic reaction, anxiety, arm pain, bone pain, chest discomfort, constipation, dental pain, difficulty breathing, dry mouth, earache, eczema, eye problems, fatigue, feeling of illness, fever, heartburn, hives, indigestion, insomnia, irritation of the mouth and throat, joint pain, laryngitis, leg cramps, migraines, mouth infection, mouth problems, muscle aches or cramps, muscle stiffness or inflammation, nasal congestion, nausea, neck pain, nervousness, nosebleed, painful menstruation, pneumonia, rapid or irregular heartbeat, rash, shortness of breath, shoulder pain
Most common: Asthma, back pain, bronchitis, chest congestion, cough, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, nasal inflammation, pallor, respiratory tract infection, sinus headache, sinus infection, sinus problems, sore throat, stomachache, tremor
Other: Skin tingling, sneezing, stomach pain, swelling, urinary tract infection, vomiting, wheezing
How should I take Serevent Diskus?
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not stop taking this medicine without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medicine. Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist. This aerosol inhaler must be shaken thoroughly before each use. Test-spray the inhaler 4 times before the first use and whenever 4 weeks have passed since the last use. Avoid spraying in the eyes. This medicine should never be used with a spacer. Always activate the Diskus device in a level, horizontal position. Never exhale into the Diskus device, and always keep it dry. Do not wash the mouthpiece or any other part of the device. Never attempt to take the Diskus apart. You may be able to taste or feel the medication delivered by the Diskus. However, whether you can sense the delivery of a dose or not, never take more inhalations than what your doctor prescribes.
How should Serevent Diskus be stored?
Store at room temperature in a cool dry place, protect from heat and light. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children and pets.
