What is Pantoloc used for?

This medicine is used in adults for the short-term treatment and short-term healing/relief of severe inflammation and erosion of the food pipe (esophagus) associated with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD, or stomach contents rising back into the food pipe). It is also used to control daytime and nighttime heartburn symptoms in patients with GERD.

When should Pantoloc not be taken?

Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine or to similar medications.

What precautions should I follow when taking Pantoloc?

Before using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription medicine, nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement if you have severe liver function impairment if you have any other medical condition

What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Pantoloc?

Before starting treatment with this medicine for gastric ulcer, exclude out the possibility for gastric malignancy

What are the side effects of Pantoloc?

Most severe: Abdominal or stomach pain, blistering, loosening, peeling, or redness of skin, skin rash, changes in facial skin colour, chest pain, diarrhea, difficulty speaking, difficulty urinating, discoloration, itching, numbness, pain, or redness at place of injection, fast or irregular breathing, increased frequency and volume of urination, infection, large, hive-like swellings on eyelids, face, lips, mouth, or tongue, loosening or stripping off of top layer of skin

Most common: Diarrhea; rash.

Other: Aching, fullness, or tension in sinuses, anxiety, back pain, belching, blurred vision, chills, confusion, constipation, cough, difficulty moving, dizziness, drooling, feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings, flatulence

How should I take Pantoloc?

How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated, your age, and weight. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. This medicine is taken once daily for up to 8 weeks. If you have not responded properly to this medicine, you may take this medicine for an additional 8 weeks. This medicine can be taken without regard to meals. Swallow Capsule whole. Do not open, chew, or crush the Capsule. Do not stop taking this medicine without checking with your doctor. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medicine. Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your doctor. This includes any herbal preparations or dietary supplements. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, restart therapy and advise your doctor or pharmacist at your next visit.

How should Pantoloc be stored?

Store at room temperature in a cool dry place, protect from heat and light. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children and pets.
