What is Reglan used for?

This medicine is used to treat symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD or the bubbling of stomach contents back into the food pipe), and diabetic digestive problems (eg, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, persistent fullness after meals and appetite loss).

When should Reglan not be taken?

Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine you have epilepsy you have adrenal gland tumors you have bleeding, blockage, or hole in the stomach or intestines

What precautions should I follow when taking Reglan?

Before using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any other prescription or nonprescription medicine or dietary supplements if you have a history of depression if you have Parkinson's disease if you have high blood pressure if you have kidney problems if you have any other medical condition

What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Reglan?

This medicine may cause dizziness, lightheadedness, drowsiness, or impaired alertness. Make sure you know how you react to this medicine before you drive, use machines, or do anything else that could be dangerous if you are dizzy or are not alert .

What are the side effects of Reglan?

Most severe:  Depression with thoughts of suicide; muscle twitching; involuntary movements of the limbs, tongue, face, mouth, or jaw; protrusion of the tongue; facial grimacing; breathing problems; impotence; yellowing of the skin or eyes; hallucinations; changes in heartbeat.

Most common:  Restlessness; drowsiness; tiredness; weariness; sleeplessness; headache; confusion; dizziness; anxiety; jitteriness; inability to sit still; pacing; foot tapping; changes in speech patterns; spontaneous flow of breast milk; breast growth; changes in menstrual flow; fluid retention; nausea; diarrhea; blood disorder; rash; hives; tightness in the lungs; swelling in the throat area; changes in vision; changes in blood pressure; frequent urination; loss of bladder control.

How should I take Reglan?

How much medicine you take and how often it is taken depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Take this medicine 30 minutes before each meal and at bedtime or as directed by your health care provider. This medicine may cause dizziness, drowsiness, or blurred vision. Use caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness, coordination, or physical dexterity. Avoid drinking alcohol or taking other medications (eg, sedatives, tranquilizers) that cause drowsiness. Diabetes patients - This medicine can affect your blood sugar levels. Be prepared to monitor your blood sugar more often. Do not take any over-the-counter or prescription medications or dietary supplements without talking with your health care provider. Patients with other medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medicine. Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised to by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider.

How should Reglan be stored?

Store at controlled room temperature (between 68 and 77 degrees F). Keep in a tight, light-resistant container.
