What is Advil used for?

This medicine is used to temporarily relieve headaches, muscle aches, minor arthritis pain, toothache, backache, minor aches and pains associated with the common cold, menstrual cramps, and the reduction of fever.

When should Advil not be taken?

Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine or similar medications

What precautions should I follow when taking Advil?

Before using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, plan on becoming pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have any other medical condition such as kidney, liver or heart disease if you consume alcohol if you are older than 65 yrs of age

What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Advil?

This medicine may cause a severe allergic reaction which may include: hives facial swelling asthma (wheezing) shock. Do not use this medicine if you have ever had an allergic reaction to any other pain reliever/fever reducer

What are the side effects of Advil?

Most severe:  Severe allergic reaction.

Most common:  Stomach upset; mild heartburn; stomach pain.

Other:  Sensitivity to light.

How should I take Advil?

How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not take aspirin and alcoholic beverages. If stomach upset occurs, take with food or milk. If stomach upset continues or gets worse, talk with your health care provider. Do not take this medicine during the last 3 months of pregnancy. If a serious allergic reaction such as hives, swelling of the face, asthma, or shock occurs, talk with your health care provider. Do not give to children under 12 years old unless directed to do so by your health care provider. If pain or fever persists or gets worse, or if new symptoms develop, talk with your health care provider. Do not stop taking this medicine without checking with your health care provider. Do not take more medicine than is prescribed unless advised to do so by your doctor or health care provider. This medicine may cause sensitivity to sunlight. Do not expose yourself to the sun for long periods of time. Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing until tolerance is determined. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your doctor. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

How should Advil be stored?

Store Tablet at 59 to 86 degrees F. Protect from high humidity and temperatures above 104 degrees F. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
