What is Diabeta used for?
This medicine is used to lower blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes who cannot manage blood sugar levels by diet and exercise alone. It may be used with other diabetes medications.
When should Diabeta not be taken?
Do not take this medication if you are allergic to any ingredient of this medicine you have elevated keytone levels you have type 1 diabetes
What precautions should I follow when taking Diabeta?
Before using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, plan on becoming pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have any other medical conditions
What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Diabeta?
This medicine will not prevent the development of complications peculiar to diabetes mellitus. Use of this medicine must be considered as treatment in addition to a proper dietary regimen and not as a substitute for diet.
What are the side effects of Diabeta?
Most severe:˙ Yellowing of the skin or eyes; heart problems; giant hives.
Most common:˙ Nausea; heartburn; allergic skin reactions; itching; flushing; redness; rash.
Other:˙ Sensitivity to sunlight; low blood sugar; problems focusing; joint pain; muscle pain.
How should I take Diabeta?
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated, your age, and weight. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. It is important to follow the diet and exercise instructions given by your health care provider and to monitor your blood sugar levels often. Do not stop taking this medication without checking with your doctor. Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your doctor. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
How should Diabeta be stored?
Store at room temperature (59 to 86 degrees F) in a well closed container with safety closures.
