What is DDAVP Nasal Spray used for?
This medicine is used as alone or with behavioral conditioning to treat nighttime bed-wetting in patients 6 years of age and older. It is also used to manage temporary excessive thirst and urination that can follow head trauma or surgery in the region of the pituitary gland. It is also used to manage excessive urination and to control diabetes insipidus.
When should DDAVP Nasal Spray not be taken?
Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine
What precautions should I follow when taking DDAVP Nasal Spray?
Before using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding if you are taking any other prescription or nonprescription medicine or dietary supplements if you have heart disease or heart problems if you have cystic fibrosis if you have any other medical condition
What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking DDAVP Nasal Spray?
This medicine should be used with extreme caution if you have cystic fibrosis or any other condition in which there is fluid and electrolyte imbalance
What are the side effects of DDAVP Nasal Spray?
Most severe: Headache, nausea, mild abdominal cramps, stuffy nose, irritation of the nose, or flushing.
Most common: Nosebleed, sore throat, cough, or a cold or other upper respiratory infections
Other: Abnormal pain, diarrhea; swelling/weight gain, chills, conjunctivitis (pinkeye), depression, dizziness, inability to produce tears, leg rash, nostril pain, rash, stomach or intestinal upset, swelling around the eyes, weakness .
How should I take DDAVP Nasal Spray?
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Lab tests may be required to monitor therapy. Be sure to keep appointments. Fluid intake may be regulated while using this medicine. Carefully follow your doctor's instructions regarding fluid intake. If a sensitivity reaction occurs (eg, rash), stop taking this medicine and contact your doctor. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications or dietary supplements without talking with your health care provider. Do not change the dose or stop taking this medicine without checking with your doctor. If a sensitivity reaction occurs, contact your doctor. Patients with other medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medicine. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If several doses are missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
How should DDAVP Nasal Spray be stored?
Store at controlled room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F. Avoid exposure to excessive heat or light.
