What is Anacin used for?

This medication is used for the temporary relief of headache, toothache, backache, menstrual cramps and minor aches and pains due to common cold and arthritis.

When should Anacin not be taken?

Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine if you have ever had an allergic reaction to any other pain reliever/fever reducer if you have peptic ulcer or gastro-intestinal bleeding.

What precautions should I follow when taking Anacin?

Before using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any other prescription medicine, nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement if you have impaired kidney or liver function, if you have heart or lung problem if you have chicken pox or flu if you have aspirin induced asthma if you have gastro-intestinal bleeding

What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Anacin?

This medicine should be used with caution in people who consume more than 3 alcoholic drinks per day. This medicine may cause stomach bleeding.

What are the side effects of Anacin?

Most severe: Severe allergic reaction (hives, facial swelling, asthma shock), gastro-intestinal bleeding and/or perforation

Most common: Upset stomach, gas, rash

Other: Ringing in the ears, redness or swelling in the painful area

How should I take Anacin?

How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. This medication should be taken with food. Do not stop taking this medicine or change the dose without checking with your health care provider. This could have serious adverse effects. If pregnant or breast-feeding, ask a health professional before use. It is especially important not to use aspirin during the last 3 months of pregnancy unless definitely directed to do so by a health care provider because it may cause problems in the unborn child or complications during delivery. Avoid alcohol and other medicines that may cause gastro-intestinal irritation while you are taking this medicine. Inform your health care provider if you are taking an oral contraceptive. Your health care provider may have to adjust the dose of this medicine. Be sure to keep appointments. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medication. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. Keep out of reach of children. In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away. Children and teenagers should not use this medicine for chicken pox or flu symptoms before a health care provider is consulted about Reye syndrome, a rare but serious illness reported to be associated with aspirin. Do not use if seal under bottle cap imprinted with "SEALED for YOUR PROTECTION" is broken or missing. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist.

How should Anacin be stored?

Store at 68 to 77 degree F in a dry, place.
